About Us

His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, launched on Tuesday the 29th March 2011 ‘The Ministry of Interior Strategic Plan’ for 2011-2013. This strategic plan lays emphasis on working towards transforming Abu Dhabi into “One of the most developed capital cities”. This led to the GHQ of Abu Dhabi police revisiting its plans regarding the internal and external environment. As a result, under the support and guidance of his Excellency Major General Mohammed Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director of General Human resources at GHQ Abu Dhabi, a new role emerged for a Police Attaché in major world capitals.

The pivotal role of the Police Attaché’s office is to reinforce international cooperation in the area of security based on the international laws and agreements signed between the Ministry of Interior, the British police and the civil security services. Its prime objective is to assist law-enforcement agencies in the UAE in their endeavour to combat crimes through academic support and training in the UK. Among various other responsibilities, the Police Attaché is also in charge of the UAE law enforcement delegations on their official trips to Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Since March 2015, Major Dr. Khamis Al Mheiri has been responsible for the Police Attaché’s office in London. He works to constantly develop and enhance the Attaché services provided to the Abu Dhabi police candidates. He strongly believes in continuously adopting and applying creativity and innovation throughout all operations as well as supporting and supervising the quality of services offered to all the Attaché’s stakeholders.
